Managing Projects

Projects in Plan Count store your PDF files, symbol detections, zones, annotations, and settings. This guide covers how to create, organize, and manage your projects.

Creating Projects

New Project Options

Click New Project from the header or Projects drawer to see creation options:

  1. Upload PDFs - Create a project by uploading one or more PDFs immediately
  2. Empty Project - Create a blank project and add PDFs later

Project Names

When you upload a PDF to create a project, the project name defaults to the filename (without extension). You can rename it at any time.

Renaming Projects

To rename a project:

  1. Click the project name in the Project Context Bar (the bar below the header showing "Project: Your Name")
  2. A pencil icon appears on hover to indicate the name is clickable
  3. The Rename Project modal opens with the current name pre-selected
  4. Type the new name and click Rename

Quick Access

The project name is always visible while working, making it easy to rename whenever needed.

Working with Multiple PDFs

Projects can contain multiple PDF files. Each PDF appears as a tab in the PDF Tab Bar at the top of the viewer.

Adding PDFs

To add more PDFs to your project:

  1. Click the + Add button at the end of the tab bar
  2. The Add PDFs modal opens
  3. Drag and drop files or click to browse
  4. Select multiple PDFs at once if needed
  5. Click Add X PDFs to confirm

Files are validated as you select them, showing page counts and file sizes.

Click any tab to switch to that PDF. The active tab shows:

  • Orange document icon
  • Current page number (e.g., "3/12")
  • The PDF filename

Inactive tabs show:

  • Gray document icon
  • Total page count badge

Reordering PDFs

Drag and drop tabs to reorder PDFs within your project:

  1. Click and hold a tab
  2. Drag it to the desired position
  3. Release to drop

A visual indicator shows where the tab will be placed.

Removing PDFs

To remove a PDF from your project:

  1. Hover over the tab to reveal the trash icon
  2. Click the trash icon
  3. Confirm the deletion in the popover

WARNING

Removing a PDF also deletes all detections, zones, and annotations associated with that PDF. This cannot be undone.
